Impact on Resources
How much of my CPU resources will Enterprise Email Archive use?
Enterprise Email Archive generally uses only about 3 - 15% of CPU resources.
Will Enterprise Email Archive affect my email server in any way?
By default, Enterprise Email Archive will not affect your email server, as default settings are to capture a copy of messages without removing tshem from the email server. However, Enterprise Email Archive can have a positive effect on your email server by improving its scalability and reliability. Enterprise Email Archive is capable of doing two things to achieve this –
1. Stubbing attachments or emails that are large enough to cause email server storage issues. Stubbing basically means to automatically archive the attachments or the email text body into the archive before they reach email server storage. Users can still view/reply/forward these emails as they would normally operate without any change on the client side.
2. Removing emails from your email server according to a set interval (i.e. after 6 months of being stored on the email server). Removing messages from the email server regularly is recommended for organizations with storage problems, in order to keep growing storage volumes from impacting the performance of email servers. As now you have a copy of emails in the archive, you can remove the original item from the email server to keep the email server performing at top speeds.
